Minister of Hajj and Umrah Dr. Tawfiq Al-Rabiah announced that approximately 1.2 million pilgrims have arrived in Saudi Arabia for Hajj 2024 by the end of Thursday. Pilgrims from around the world have completed their entry procedures smoothly, thanks to improved processes.
In a government news conference held in Riyadh, Dr. Al-Rabiah, accompanied by Minister of Media Salman Al-Dosary, emphasized the excellent health and high satisfaction levels among the pilgrims. He attributed this success to Allah, the support of the wise leadership, and the dedication of sector personnel.

Dr. Al-Rabiah highlighted the Kingdom’s historical commitment to serving pilgrims, facilitated by the leadership’s focus on providing the highest levels of care. This year’s preparations began immediately after the conclusion of Hajj 2023, with collaborative efforts from over 50 government agencies and the implementation of more than 300 plans.
Significant initiatives include the Makkah Route Initiative, which facilitated the arrival of over 250,000 pilgrims, and extensive training programs for over 120,000 workers and group leaders. Additionally, the ministry introduced a direct electronic registration system for pilgrims, enhancing service delivery and eliminating intermediaries.
Dr. Al-Rabiah praised infrastructure improvements, including prototype buildings for 37,000 pilgrims and the world’s largest air cooling and purification station in the Grand Mosque. Transportation advancements include the Al-Mashaer train, which will transport over 350,000 pilgrims between Holy Sites.
The minister reaffirmed the Kingdom’s commitment to ensuring a successful Hajj season, aligning with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
