Ambassador Malik Abid Talks About Kashmir Crisis at United Nations

NEW YORK, Ambassador Malik Nadeem Abid, Secretary-General of the New York-based International Human Rights Commission, met with Dr. Ammaar Saeed in New York City to discuss the humanitarian crisis in Indian-administered Kashmir.

Speaking to Dr Ammaar Saeed discusses about the crisis in Kashmir, in New York, Ambassador Abid urged the community to intensify their efforts to raise awareness among the American public about the Kashmiri struggle for freedom.

“Building greater understanding and support among Americans for the valiant struggle of the Kashmiri people is crucial,” Ambassador Malik Nadeem Abid emphasized.

Ambassador Nadeem Abid, a key advocate for Kashmiris at the United Nations, highlighted the dire situation under Indian occupation. “We used to have information daily about the atrocities committed by the Indian army,” Ambassador Nadeem Abid said. “Since August 2019, there has been a complete blockade, preventing us from getting accurate information or even sending humanitarian supplies to the people of Kashmir. Despite these challenges, our commitment to advocating for the rights of Kashmiris remains steadfast.”

He discussed Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts to resolve the Kashmir dispute, emphasizing the international community’s role in recognizing the illegal issuance of domiciles to non-Kashmiris by the Indian government. “No matter how many domiciles the Indian government issues, they will not change the demographics of the state of Jammu and Kashmir,” he asserted. “The United Nations will not accept these illegal residents in a plebiscite.”

The meeting also addressed the hosting of the G-20 Conference in Indian-occupied Kashmir. “India should not be hosting the G-20 Conference in Kashmir,” Ambassador Abid stated. “However, for the financial gain of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, we can compromise on this issue if it helps improve their living standards.”

Dr. Ammaar Saeed echoed these sentiments, stressing the importance of international awareness and support. “The global community must understand the severity of the situation in Kashmir,” Dr Ammaar Saeed said. “The violations of human rights there are among the worst in the world today.”

Ambassador Nadeem Abid highlighted the role of NGOs in raising awareness and educating the public about the violations in Kashmir. “Our job as an NGO is to raise awareness and educate,” he explained. “We cannot enforce laws, but we can ensure that the world knows about the injustices in Kashmir.”

Concluding the meeting, Ambassador Nadeem Abid emphasized the need for Pakistan to strengthen its domestic political structure and international relations to support the Kashmiri cause effectively. “Pakistan must first become stronger at home before it can hope to influence international policy effectively,” he stated. “A stronger and more stabilized Pakistan is crucial for the peaceful resolution of Kashmir.” This meeting underscores the ongoing efforts of Ambassador Malik Nadeem Abid and the International Human Rights Commission in advocating for the Kashmiri people and addressing the severe injustices they face.
