Crewe takeaway and Halal market hit with one-star food hygiene rating | Local News | News | Crewe Nub News

A Chinese takeaway and Halal market in Crewe have been hit with a one-star food hygiene rating, according to a recent Food Standard Agency (FSA) report.

The FSA Food Hygiene Rating Scheme is aimed at helping people choose where to eat out or shop for food.

This scheme is in partnership with local authorities in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

A one-star hygiene rating means ‘major improvement is necessary’ for the business (FSA).

It gives businesses a rating from zero to five, displayed at their premises and online.

A one-star hygiene rating means “major improvement is necessary” for the business.

All information was taken from the Food Standard Agency website as of Wednesday 24 July:

Goomet, 112 to 114 Nantwich Road (Chinese takeaway) – one-star (6 June, 2024).

Goomet, Nantwich Road, was rated one-star for hood hygiene on 6 June (Google).

Sadaf Halal Market, 31 Mill Street (Halal supermarket) – one-star (31 May, 2024).

Sadaf Halal Market, Mill Street, was rated one-star for food hygiene on 31 May (Ryan Parker).

A food safety officer from Cheshire East Council inspected the Crewe takeaway and shop to check they were following food hygiene law and ensuring the food sold was safe to eat.

At all inspections, the officer checked the following three elements:

Hygienic food handling Cleanliness and condition of facilities and buildingManagement of food safety

Goomet and Sadaf Halal Market were rated one-star based on their management of food safety.

It was deemed there was ‘improvement necessary’ for Goomet’s hygienic food handling, with its cleanliness and condition of facilities and building also rated two-star.

For Sadaf Halal Market, there was ‘improvement necessary’ for its hygienic food handling, with its cleanliness and condition of facilities and building rated ‘generally satisfactory’ (three-star).
